Intercounty 4-H Judging
This judging competition, held yearly, was designed in 1989 to train 4-H’ers in the correct conformation of dairy animals, help in their decision making process and develop confidence while defending their decisions. From this competition, four people are selected to represent Ontario at the National 4-H Dairy Judging Competition in Madison, Wisconsin, during the World Dairy Expo.
Both the juniors and the seniors judged nine classes of cattle and wrote a quiz based on the "You be the Judge" Manual, with the juniors giving reasons on three classes and the seniors on six classes. Regional Ayrshire, Holstein, Jersey and Brown Swiss breeders are sincerely thanked for supplying quality cattle.
Thank you to our major sponsor John Deere for their contribution to this great youth event.
4-Her's from around Ontario not only had the opportunity to learn more about judging dairy cattle but were also able to make friends and compete with fellow 4-H members.
A huge thank you goes to the organizing committee who did an excellent job of planning and hosting this event. We also thank those who donated the awards, feed, trucking and supplies, and all the volunteers who helped keep this competition running smoothly. We wish all of our trip winners well in their upcoming competition.
The Inter-County 4-H Dairy Judging Competition is funded in part by the Ontario Dairy Youth Trust Fund.
